Thank You to the Cooks
Thank you to everyone that participated in the process of preparing the Thanksgiving meal.
I know what is involved and what it takes to get that meal on the table hot.
You spent the time researching recipes, creating grocery lists, clearing out the refrigerator, shopping for ingredients, prepping recipes – in some cases days in advance.
Inviting guests. Then more guests. And even more guests.
Cleaning the house, washing dishes and serving utensils, polishing silver, and setting a beautiful table.
Waking up early, placing the turkey in the oven, basting it regularly, stressing and asking yourself is it done yet? Juggling the cooking of all the dishes. Warming up the dishes brought by your guests.
Dealing with the guests questions:
Is it done yet?
Can I see?
Need any help?
Hey how do you work your tv? or any other lame question that takes you out of the kitchen.
Dealing with guests opening up the oven door and letting all the heat out.
Being gracious and not yelling at them to get out of the kitchen or maybe you did which is absolutely OK.
Stressing about the food getting cold.
Then as your guest sit down dealing with the silence.
Silence is good. It just says that your food is good and your guests are too busy eating.
I hope you received all the praise you deserve.
Now for my favorite part making leftovers dishes with the leftover Turkey.
